Enabling Disabled Children

Improve the quality of life for children suffering from Autism; a severe, life long, neurological disability. As a volunteer, your duties would include assisting the teacher in class, stimulating autistic children in a creative environment, as well as supervising afterschool play time.  You also may help with administrative work at the school, when not directly interacting with the children.

Heart for Orphans

Enrich the lives of orphans and abandoned babies, who have no one else to hold them, or play games with them. Choose to work either with babies/toddlers (newborn - 4yrs) or children (5 – 17yrs) at their orphanage after school. Bring your creativity with you, and prepare to become a close mentor and positive force in the life of many young ones!

Hope Journey/Children’s Recovery Hospital

This Children's Convalescent Hospital is a home for children in recovery who have been discharged from provincial hospitals. The mission of the hospital is to provide expert nursing and medical care, in a homey and loving environment, for infants and children recovering from acute medical and surgical conditions and who are, for social or medical reasons, unable to return to their own homes. Assistance is needed with laundry, food preparation, and classroom help, to fundraising and managing of donations, ideas, and much more.

K.I.S.S. – Kids Interactive Surf School

Help disadvantaged kids gain confidence and life skills through surfing.  Live in a relaxed beach town and work on an amazing beach.  Learn how to surf and then teach others (no experience necessary).  Volunteers need to be able to swim and enjoy working with young kids.

South Africa Youth Program:

Teach in day cares, primary or secondary schools in Venda or Soweto.  Be directly involved in the motivation and development of young people’s lives and ultimately help to bridge gaps and influence change in the “New South Africa.”

Streetwise Soccer

Volunteer your skills and time to inspiring street kids, helping them to develop their love for the game into a meaningful journey where they can rediscover themselves.  It is said that sport is the tool to unite the hearts and minds of a nation and to overcome borders and issues of race and religion.  Goals include developing a Soccer Club in Cape Town to participate in competitive leagues.

Teach Kids on the Beach

The project involves volunteering with disadvantaged children (3 to 6 years of age) from a township in the surf capital of South Africa, in an established nursery school, which has NO Government funding. The School has enough land for a vegetable growing project, which is in a state of disrepair and needs 'green fingers' as it will help feed the children. The infrastructure is therefore basic but functional, salaries low and teacher aids minimal.

Wild Coast African Angels Crèche Project

African Angels is a non-profit organization that seeks, receives and distributes sponsorship of education of African Children (the Angels) identified as needy and unlikely to receive a continuous, good quality education.  Volunteers work in a preschool with disadvantaged, rural children team teaching with other teachers.

Help make a real difference in the lives of South African children by introducing computer literacy skills as well as a sports program to rural schools on the Wild Coast.

Words Changing Worlds

Empower children through the gift of reading. Volunteers work at a literacy program to support children at English-speaking inner-city schools, whose first language is not English.   All you need is love for children, books, and the willingness to donate your time.

  • Min:  1 month
